Thank you to those members and guest who attended our third Pacific Welkam event in Melbourne.
Melbourne has historically lagged behind Sydney and Brisbane in terms of member numbers which is something the Council hopes to change by having more engagement in the city through events such as this one for current members and others interested in operating in the Pacific region. We had a great turnout of 34 members and guests who attended for lunch, networking and to hear from Craig Jones, Executive General Manager, Wafi-Golpu, Newcrest Mining Limited.
Our thanks to Craig for his excellent presentation on Newcrest's work in the Pacific, in particular the Namosi Joint Venture in Fiji and Wafi-Golpu in Papua New Guinea.
Thanks also to Newcrest Mining Limited for generously sponsoring the event and hosting the Pacific Welkam along with the Councils Executive Committee Meetings.
This year, with the introduction of the Pacific Welkam Series, we are striving to create a quality program with a varied selection of speakers and industry updates, and also provide valuable networking opportunities for Australian and Pacific businesses, and those interested in these markets. We hope to continue to see new faces at our future events.
If you wish to know about future events as a non-member, you can subscribe to our event updates. As always, we encourage non-members to consider membership of the Councils to join and strong and growing network of organisations operating in the region.
The next Pacific Welkam will take place in Brisbane on Thursday 8th June. Please keep an eye out for details and feel free to share Pacific Welkam events with your networks.
