The inaugural Pacific Welkam takes place in Sydney

A Business Networking series in 2017

Australia Pacific Business Connections held the inaugural ‘Pacific Welkam’ event on 9th February, kindly hosted by International SOS at their Sydney office.

The Pacific Welkam series is an initiative developed by the Australia Papua New Guinea Business Council, Australia Fiji Business Council and Australia Pacific Islands Business Council. Pacific Welkam events are short-format networking events that will take place throughout the year coinciding with the Councils’ Executive Committee meetings.

It is a chance for the Executive Committee to meet members of the Council based in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Port Moresby. With this series, we would like to provide a chance for our network to meet fellow members and invited guests and perhaps learn something useful for their business over lunch, breakfast or evening drinks. The type of event and location will vary based on the host and the speaker.

The Pacific Welkam Series will become regular feature of the Council’s event calendar and will be open to members and their invited guests only. We hope to provide engaging and useful updates as well as a chance for some great networking for organisations with an interest in the Pacific region.

Our sincere thanks to the hosts of the first Pacific Welkam, International SOS. Attendees were  taken on guided tours through the Intl.SOS Assistance Centre where a range of employees assist, educate, save and protect lives in more than 90 countries across the globe with 24 hour assistance operations taking place in this centre. Attendees were also lucky enough to have Dr, Mauro Zambon, Regional Medical Director – Assistance Services, Australasia present on the work that Intl.SOS do and how they operate in the Pacific Region.

There are several ways in which you can participate in a Pacific Welkam;

As members: These events are open to all members of the Council it is aimed at, sometimes this will mean all three Councils, other times, it will be only one or two.

As non-members: we will also open the event to guests of members on an ‘invite-only’ basis. We encourage our members to help us by introducing us to potential new members through these events, so we can strengthen our network.

As a host: Hosting is an opportunity to help the Council in its aims, but also an excellent way to showcase your business to attendees. If you are interested in hosting an event, please get in touch.
