Australian Assistant Minister for Trade, Tourism and Investment the Hon Keith Pitt MP to Launch Australian Government Initiative

Australia’s Assistant Minister for Trade, Tourism and Investment the Hon Keith Pitt MP will join the Solomon Islands Prime Minister the Hon Manasseh Sogavare MP in making a keynote address at the opening of the 9th Australia Solomon Islands Business Forum on 25 July 2017.
During this address, Assistant Minister Pitt will launch a key new initiative of the Australian Government called Strongim Bisnis. Strongim Bisnis will work with the private sector to support growth in selected markets, initially cocoa, coconut and tourism. Aligned with the Solomon Islands National Development Strategy, enabling inclusive economic growth is a key priority of Australia’s aid program in Solomon Islands.
Australia and Solomon Islands have a trade and investment partnership valued at over AUD 630 million in 2016. This includes AUD 398 million in two-way trade of goods and services. Australia is the ninth largest export market for Solomon Islands and Australia is Solomon Islands’ principal source of imports.
