The Ministry of Meteorology, Energy, Information, Disaster Management, Environment, Climate Change, and Communications (MEIDECC) granted Starlink operational clearance in December 2024. For years, Tonga’s internet infrastructure has faced challenges, including disruptions caused by undersea cable damage and limited satellite options.
