Austrade and the Australia Pacific Business Councils in collaboration with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade’s Office of the Pacific are hosting a half day seminar to explore the opportunities for Australian, Pacific and New Zealand businesses arising from the Australian Government ‘Step Up’ agenda.

Fund managers, financial institutions, infrastructure and related “supply-chain” organisations should be particularly interested in attending.

As part of Australia’s Step Up in the Pacific there is a strong focus on Infrastructure and Climate resilience. The $2Bn Australian Infrastructure Financing Facility for the Pacific (AIFFP) is being deployed to focus on transformative infrastructure projects in Telecommunications, Transport Energy and Water to encourage regional prosperity and independence.

The half day seminar, will provide an opportunity to:

  • hear senior Pacific Ministers talk about their infrastructure project pipelines and their aspirations for the region,
  • get a first-hand update From the Commonwealth Government’s Office of the Pacific on the Step Up and AIFFP projects and progress,
  • learn about some of the work the Pacific Pension and Sovereign Wealth Funds are undertaking as the Pacific Islands Investment Forum to identify investment opportunities arising from the increased focus on pacific Infrastructure, and about the Pacific Resilience Fund being developed by the Pacific Islands Forum.
  • discuss with key Pacific banking, finance and investment personnel, the opportunities and constraints to investing in Pacific Infrastructure.
